Question about airing out?

I've read that you shouldn't wear panties when sleeping because it needs to air out down there. I only use pads so I have to when I have my period. But even the rest of the time if I don't wear panties won't my pj's get dirty? I change my underwear every day. Do you have to change your PJ's every day?
