How to connect my Samsung BD-P1600 to my television?

So, my friends and I are a couple of pretty big idiots. We are currently at his father's place, trying to figure out his blue ray works, but having trouble doing so. We aren't too sure what cords we need and where they should plug in. We've found an audio/video cord, only with the red and white prongs. There's also a blue cord, but I have no idea what it would be used for. If anyone can explain what cords we need to plug the damn thing into the television and get the player going, that would be fantastic.
